Juanpi Medeles
Violinist. Arranger. Composer.

Raised in a musical family, Juan Pablo “Juanpi” Medeles started by singing as a young boy in the family church choir. Now, he offers his talents as a violinist, arranger, and composer.

He began studying music at six with his uncle Victor Manuel Medeles Romero (1943-2009), a well-known composer and professor at the University of Guadalajara.
​
Since then, Juanpi earned a Técnico en Música degree in music at the University of Guadalajara.
​
Juanpi’s violin skills include classical, mariachi, gypsy, jazz, funk, tango, electronic, experimental, reggae, rock, pop, musical theater, kirtan, flamenco and sacred music.
Juanpi plays in orchestras, chamber music groups, solo recitals, and original projects throughout Mexico, such as the University of Guadalajara's Higinio Ruvalcaba Chamber Orchestra, the Zapopan Symphonic Orchestra, and Mexico Children’s and Youth Symphonic Orchestra (OSIM).
He has also played in the Jalisco Philarmonic Orchestra and Boca del Rio Philarmonic Orchestra.
He was part of the Guadalajara cast for the Broadway musical “The Last Five Years” in Guadalajara. And, at the Ondalinda Festival, Juanpi participated in a unique audio-visual show that included electronics, improvisation, and dance.
Adding to his extensive experience in classical music, he has explored various genres such as tango, gypsy jazz, musical theatre, mariachi, electronica, contemporary, flamenco, Indian music, chant/kirtan, live looping, and fusion.

He was the musical director of Mariachi Real Axixic for two years.
​
Juanpi is also experienced as a session musician, arranger, and producer and has played on orchestral, mariachi, jazz, and independent recording projects.
He dreams of touching souls through film scores, musical theater, and multi-disciplinary performances, including visual arts and spoken word.
